The Scholar Experience

Incoming Summer

  • Five-week hybrid, stipend-supported summer program on the Duke campus and in Durham, NC
  • Meet other incoming Clark Scholars at Duke and build a strong team bond
  • Get an intensive, curated introduction to college study and life

First Year

  • Attend weekly cohort meetings with Program Director on Wednesdays 12-1pm
  • Attend individual and group meetings with faculty mentor and peer mentor

First Summer

  • Focused, summer-long international entrepreneurship program 
  • Technical skills boot camp with an internship to apply skills to a real-world project
  • Living expenses and stipend are paid for by the program

Sophomore Year

  • Enroll and complete a 2-semester sequence around service: EGR 190: Intro to Community Engagement for Engineers (.5 credits-Fall) and EGR TBD: Community Consultation (.5 credits-Spring)

Junior Year

  • Enroll and complete EGR 190: Business Leadership for Engineers Course (1 credit)
  • Enroll and complete 1 of the approved business courses: ECON 174: Financial Accounting or MMS 370: Managerial Finance

Senior Year

  • Job placement support
  • Clark Scholars graduation celebration
