The Scholar Experience

Incoming Summer

  • Two-week in-person, stipend-supported summer bridge program in Durham, NC
  • Summer program introduces Scholars to the fundamentals of Product Management, introduces incoming Scholars to Duke and Durham, and builds cohort cohesion

First Year

  • Attend weekly cohort meetings with Program Director
  • Attend individual and group meetings with faculty mentor and peer mentor

First Summer

  • Participate in a summer-long international summer global entrepreneurship program and complete a business course for 1 credit and associated internship or applied project
  • Program costs and living expenses paid for by the Program, with an additional stipend provided

Sophomore Year

  • Enroll and complete a 2-semester sequence focusing on community engagement and partner with a local community organization to lead a project.
  • EGR 190: Intro to Community Engagement for Engineers (1 credit-Fall) and EGR 190: Community Consultation (.5 credits-Spring)

Junior Year

  • Enroll and complete EGR 190: Business Leadership for Engineers Course (1 credit)
  • Enroll and complete 1 of the approved business courses: ECON 174: Financial Accounting or MMS 370: Managerial Finance

Senior Year

  • Job placement support
